Optimal marketing strategy for MLM business

From my experience, to become successful in this business, you need to market your businesses both online and offline. Though, networkers are starting to spend much of their time and effort on the Internet as their favorite marketing media. One of the main benefits we have found it gives you the freedom to use various networking resources to reach out to millions of Internet users globally.

If we rewind 20 years back before the Internet gained momentum. The network marketing structure was in place, but the resources to expand your network marketing business were limited. It was usually only the fate hearted that succeeded, but now the internet has leveled the playing field.

I remember when I first started; I was building networks with the local hair dresser, bakers, corner store owners, business clubs and heaps of other small business owners which took months. But, now you can build these types of networks in a matter of minutes, using the likes of Web 2.0, social networking sites, bookmarking sites, article marketing, blogs and websites.

All this stuff helps us build relationships with people to ultimately become business partners or become part of your master mind group.

Offline vs. Online marketing strategies

But, lets ge into the the long term debate of weather online or offline marketing is better.

And which method will to choose?

Let us look at both the options in greater detail.

The age old method of network marketing has churned the most successful business people for a very long time. It is only till recent times that Internet has paved its way in this area.

Old school network marketers preached marketing straties of:

  • Making list of family and friends
  • Meeting people in social events
  • Cold calls, etc.

In the past, tapping in to your warm market was the best starting point to expand your network marketing business. The secret is in the timing, your approach and being selective to whom you want to become business partner with. I know that I would not want to be business partners with many of my cousins. Not because i don't love them but because i would have to carry them. I know that doesn't work.

So why would you want to introduce them to it?

I’m sure you feel the same way!

But the reason you do and the method you take can be beneficial. Simply because they may know some one you don’t and this is what networking is all about.

I personally don’t rule offline marketing out, simply because everyone in our industry wants to build their business online. Now a smart businessman always does the opposite of what everyone else is doing. The advantage of using offline marketing is that if you know how, you have no competition. But this is for another time.

Online network marketing strategy

The Internet gives you endless opportunities by means of social networking. The initial list of contacts varies from person to person. And for someone with a small circle of influence, this option can work wonders.

But for your business to go from a 5 figure income to a 7 figure income business, you will need to use the internet to its full potential and this includes making and posting videos. If you are willing to learn how and do this the rewards are incredible.

  • Tap in to your warm market and circle of influence and look for possibilities of expansion

  • Use an auto-responder service for following up with prospects/leads

  • Give regular status updates on yourself and business on social networking sites

  • Have a good business card containing your website and email address for more communication options

  • Build a strong network of contacts through friends and family using social networking sites as an individual and not as a business owner. Over time you they may ask your and find out how ou are making so much money

Some of the other effective offline strategies include:

  • Inserting your business card in to every newspaper at a newsstand

  • Placing your business cards in airline magazines on flights

  • Personal development books, motivational books, etc. can be a placeholder for your cards at your local bookstore
