Network Marketing Leads

Many successful networkers would argue that contacting network marketing leads or
prospecting
is essentially the most important aspect of running a successful network marketing business. This concept is not much different to managing any other business model, where essentially you need to put your product or service in front of the customers in order for them to buy it.
The main difference between a network marketing business and your normal business model is, unlike your standard shoe shop in a supermarket where there is always traffic walking past the shop window to see what you have for sale, in network marketing people do not know what you have for sale unless you show them. The point we are trying to make is that no-one is going to buy a product or join a business if they do not know it exists. Where in traditional business models customers generally come to you because they have seen what you have for sale, in a network marketing business, until you have a solid customer base you need to actively go and find your customers, that is you need to generate network marketing leads.
So how do we find network marketing leads?
Traditionally, in network marketing companies distributors were encouraged to prospect their network of family and friends (hot and warm market). Although this method is still commonly used, do not ever feel that you have to approach those closest to you in order to ensure your success. In recent years we have seen a new wave of network marketers who are continually looking for ways to capitalise on the cold market (people you don’t know). This has become increasingly easy since the introduction of the internet. Today there is a growing number of prospects who are actively looking for certain products and network marketing opportunities via the internet. Business operators now have access to these network marketing leads through a number of different methods such as going directly through a lead generation company, or with a little bit of training you can create your own free leads.
Think of leads like customers walking into your shoe shop. Although not everyone who walks into your shoe shop will buy a pair of shoes, at least people are interested enough to have a look and there is the potential to get referrals. Network marketing is very similar, where not every lead you contact will be interested in what you have to present, but at least now you have a group of prospects who are actively looking for you to show them what you have to offer. Naturally this only works if you actually contact your leads. You would be surprised how many people purchase leads over the internet and then never bother to contact them.
Once you have a good supply of leads or prospects and you have learnt the best way to contact them, the second phase to network marketing success is mastering how to convert leads into becoming repeat customers and / or active distributors.
